The new implementation is based on threads. It also supports the specification of "protocols" that were introduced with the switch to the `asyncio` implementation in 0.14.0. ([#5667][]) - `clone` now supports arbitrary URL transformations based on regular expressions. One or more transformation steps can be defined via `datalad.clone.url-substitute.
